Book Review | ||
Writing a book review is one of the most common and frequent assignment, which college students are expected to write. Book reviews enable professors to ensure that students have clearly understood the course materials taught in class and have developed the art of essay writing and academic writing in general. Writing a book review is therefore an important requirement of many literature and English language courses. A book review may sound similar to a book report but is actually distinct from it. A book report states the essential aspects of a book including its theme and important events as opposed to a book review essay which involves a subjective approach and requires the student to give personal opinion about the book. Due to the subjectivity involved in writing a book review, there are no fixed criteria for grading a book review essay. However, the book review will enable the professor to understand whether the student has actually read the book or not. Reading the assignment details will also enable the student to get a clear picture of any specific requirements or any particular aspects to be considered needed to write the book review.
A book review essentially has six principal constituents:
The title of the book review lists the author’s name and publication details of the book under review. There is no fixed length for writing a book review which varies according to specific instructions and requirements. However, the paper should be equally divided between the important details of the book and the personal opinion of the writer. Students should give first importance to the specification provided by the instructor or professor for writing the book review. | ||
